I recently did some split testing using 60 e-mail Blasters and 80 non credit based safelists, I was very shocked at the abysmal click rate. With a supposed mailing base of millions the rate was a joke, I could have made paper airplanes with a url written in crayon on them and threw them off a bridge and got the same results


Here are my Findings:

I ran across a guy selling 60 e-mail blasters for I think it was 5 bucks, I knew they would be mostly garbage being only 5 bucks but I figured what the heck its only $5 if I even get a few hits it will be worth it.

So I got the blasters, I then made a whole slew of urls with the link cloaking site I use so I could split test the blasters, I went ahead and made some for the blasters I already use as well. I also saw a link for some non credit based safelists that were offering free platinum upgrades so I joined a truckload of those and made 1 url for all of them, I think it was 80.

I then sent out my ad, I sent it to my regular safelist's, the new non credit based ones I had joined and all the blasters, I was surprised to see some blasters in the mix that I had actually considered buying at one time or another.

I went about my business and later that night I checked the stats, my regular safelists had hits and I got some people to sign into my auto responder, 2 of my original blasters had some hits, nothing huge but they got hits, the third one got nothing g-mail pro is the blaster and it got zero hits and did a few more times as well after that.

The other blasters got 10 hits, out of all of those blasters with a supposed mailing base of millions. And I suspect half of those where from me clicking the links myself checking them. The real shocking thing is I have seen many of those blasters all over the net for sale, one in particular has 3 levels you can purchase with the highest being about $70 and it got zero, zilch, nada clicks!

Even better the 80 non credit safelists I sent my ad in, all 80 had a membership between 700 and 1000 members, so that is at east 64,000 members I sent my ad out to, remember I sent the same ad to my regular credit based safelist's and I got hits and a few auto responder opt ins, I figured I would get quite a few hits at least and hopefully a few auto responder opt in's.

I got one hit! I was shocked, 64,000 members and one hit is crazy.

So I spent $5 and took a few hours out of my day but I learned a few things, non credit based safelists ****, waste of time, and most e-mail blasters **** too, there are a few out there that actually work but I highly suggest you do some research before you buy one.

Oh yeah I almost forgot, 90% of the Blasters had numerous pages pop under in tabs, I had them blocked but in order to finish your mailing you have to turn off your blocker and they flood in, it seems to me the blasters are nothing more than a vehicle for the pop unders people pay to get shown.

The fact that people sell those blasters when the know they are worthless bothers me a bit, I should not be surprised but it still bothers me, if something doesn't work how can you promote it to other people? Lame.
