Informed and strategic trading in the foreign exchange market is an excellent way to earn extra income or even make a full-time living. Obviously, before entering the foreign exchange market, there are some things any new trader should consider. Even experienced traders can benefit from reminders and fresh ideas.
Automated trading can be a beneficial part of your strategy, especially early on in your trading career. This does not necessarily mean you need computer-automation. You can commit to making the same decision every time you are presented with a given situation. This can help you eliminate emotional reactions and stick to a long-term plan.
Be extremely careful when using margin. Margin can really boost your profits or it can cause you to lose your shirt in a single trade. Margin is debt, and it can work to your benefit or it can be quite the hindrance. Use margin carefully and wisely, and you may find that it will help you make a killing.
Execute your trades only with a forex trading strategy that you have proven to yourself. Many forex forums have traders offering their strategies. While it may seem easy to jump into the market with one of these "proven" strategies, the only "proven" ones that you should use, are those that have returned good results, consistently, in your demo account.
Positioning on the market is going to go hand and hand with the probabilities and the risk management that you have grown to understand. The trick to earning is to position yourself in a way that you will not be killed by losses and that will multiply your actual profits.
Don't ever trade money in the forex markets that you need to meet your basic financial needs every month. If you are working on a deadline to pay your mortgage or your utilities bills, you will trade emotionally, not rationally. Forex trading shouldn't be done as your only source of income, and should only be done with money you can afford to lose.
If you want to pursue forex trading, one thing you should do is to recognize the three different types of markets. These include up trending, range bound, and down. You should aim to have different strategies for each of these different types if you plan on being successful doing forex trading.
A mistake that is commonly made among beginners when trading in the foreign exchange market is that traders try to pit tops and bottoms. Pinpointing tops and bottoms in the market is a difficult and very risky task. Wait until tops and bottoms have been established by price action, not by random guessing.
Remember to look at short term and long term averages. Short term averages react more quickly to vital information, so you can immediately see where a trend is headed. Long term averages show what will happen after the trend completes its rounds. It is important to know both of these to decide if you want to enter a trade.
As stated before, the foreign exchange market can be very profitable to traders, so long as the trader is educated in the business. If you follow the advice provided in this post, you can experience successful profit gains while avoiding the costly mistakes that other traders have made.

Thanks ForexCepat to share useful and important trading tips with us. I am basically a forex trader and use stock trading to diversify my trading portfolio. I prefer to manual trading instead of automated trading.
