Creating a blog on your site (or making the entire site a blog) can often be the "quick route" to getting traffic. The trick, as stated above, is offering information that people want. You need to think first about the kind of things you can blog about, or places you can scrape others' posts. But it can't just be a regurgitation of stuff I can find anywhere else. Give it some substance and spend some time promoting your blog across the net. Once you get some traffic flowing, you can effectively pursue the ideas suggested here (adsense, CPA, affiliate marketing, etc).
Better yet, if you know the types of affiliate products you want to sell, start your blog about that particular niche. That tends to give your site the best fit all around when you start to promote affiliate products.
