Default Partition Recommendation, How to partition my Harddisk? (Recommendations)

I have bought a Seagate IDE Harddisk 150GB.
Only partitioned 20GB for windows and all files. There rest were still left blank and un-partitioned.

I heard that only 5GB is enough for system file...

and 10GB for program files..

others for downloads and documents..

Can anyone suggest?

If it's me, i will do a
- 20GB for windows and other add-ons
- 100GB for program files and applications
- 30GB for backup (E.g. setup files, multimedia files or any other files you wanna back up).

I do it this way because it will be more convenient if you intend to reformat one day or rather install another OS without touching the backup partition. Of course, you can choose to take away the backup partition and do all backup on cd/dvd/external disk. It's all your preference. For me, i do both.

If it was me I'd do this

1) 100Gb NTFS
2) 100Mb Reiserfs4 /boot
3) 20Gb Reiserfs4 /
4) The remainder (just under 30Gb) Reiserfs4 /home

Install Windows on 1st partition for games then install linux to the others for everything else. You could make the windows partition smaller if you have less games or if you don't play games, just do away with it entirely and use the extra space for your /home partition on Linux.
