I am working with basics and particular techniques to get backlinks for my site. But all the backlinks I got are shown no-follow at different page sources. Is it by default a site makes our url to no-follow? Can we change those no-follow attributes to follow backlinks. What should be done to get do-follow backlinks?

In the wordpress there is a plugin which change no follow link into do follow.
