    Default What is Modern Design?

Apparently it's a 'thing' you can have experience of. 'All Designers have it'. Is it more about having an awareness of the latest trends in the industry, or can you actually go out and get tangible experience in 'Modern Design'?

Last heard the moder design concept was Web 2.0, which advocates strongly to completely do away with tables for designing.since tables are meant for displaying data and not to organise the design elements.
Rather <div> tag element should be used for designing.
if you know any thing more latest then please do share it with all of us.

Modern Design is all about Web 2.0. There is no table required for designing. <div> tag element is used for designing. The site can easily appeal to the visitors.

By searching the net taking a look at the websites which have been designed using modern methods you would find them powered by CSS in most cases and also a lot of options plus plug-ins could be noticed like the RSS feeds, some ad publishing systems as well as some Flash made presentations which would be liked by the visitors.

As for me modern design is something more than just design based on web 2.0 - it is the appropriate design of a website with apporpriate colors which reflect the main idea and topic of the site. I can say also that it is important to create design which is really SEO friendly.

Yes absolutely these days a nice design is useless if principles of SEO are not incorporated.

Modern design is based on trends.

Design is based on visual appeal, balance and usability. Let's not mistake web 2.0 with modern design.

web 2.0 is the current wave of dynamic sites that include social media, social networking and the rest.

I always use this resource when designing. It covers everything from layouts, use of colours, typography and even the user interaction/behaviour.

A Web 2.0 design is simple, featuring plenty of whitespace, as well as a lack of superfluous elements.
You can’t go wrong with simplistic, attention-grabbing, easy to use navigation. Imagine a site with three tabs along the top, each pointing to the major sections of the site. Compare that to a site with a sidebar filled with twenty-seven links. Which do you think is better? If you can simplify your navigation without sacrificing ease of use, it’s definitely a good idea.
. Branding is everything on the web. If a site isn’t memorable, people won’t come back. A unique logo, and a memorable name, is . You know the way Apple always has an attention-grabbing image that fills the entire first screenful of their main page? That’s big with Web 2.0 sites.
Some Web 2.0 sites, like Pownce, make use of strong, flat, colors. Others use excessive amounts of gradients and gloss. The plastic Elements are more noticeable if they have relevant icons near them.

The Industrial Revolution and early 20th century art movements, including cubism and futurism, helped set the stage for decorative arts that rejected the ornamentation of the past in favor of products influenced by rapidly changing technology and aesthetics. Modern design as we know it today dates to the early 1900s, and it continues to be redefined by today's practitioners. Along the way, it has established benchmarks that are widely imitated in contemporary furniture collections.
